Electric current class-10

Electric current

 class-10

Electric Current: The flow of electrons across a cross section of a conductor is known as Electric Current, Electric current is carried by moving electrons through a conductor.

 What is electric current
Or
Define Electric current

The rate of flow of electric charge through any section of a conductor is known as electric current. It is denoted by letter I.

What is the expression of electric current?

If a net electric charge (Q) flows through a cross section of conductor in time t, then:

Electric Current(I)=Net charge(Q)Time(t)

Or, I=Qt

Where I is electric current, Q is a net charge and t is a time in second.

What is the SI unit of Electric current?

The SI unit of Electric current is Ampere.

Define 1 Ampere.

if 1 coulomb of electric charge flows through a cross section for 1 second, it would be equal to 1 ampere.

Electric Current(I)=Net charge(Q)Time(t)

Or, I=Qt

Therefore; 1A=1C1s

Small quantity of Electric Current:

Small quantity of electric current is expressed in milliampere and microampere.

Milliampere is written as mA

Microampere is written as  μA

1mA (milliampere)=10-3 A

1μA(microampere)=10-6 A

........................

Which apparatus is used to measure electric current?

Ammeter is used to measure electric current in a circuit.

What is the direction of electric current in the circuit diagram?

The direction of electric current is by convention, which shows the direction of an electric current in a circuit flows from the positive terminal of the battery toward the negative terminal of the battery.

What is the direction of electric current in reality?

Direction of flow of current is in the opposite direction to the actual flow of electrons in a wire. It flows from negative terminal of the battery to the positive terminal of the battery.

..............

Write types of electric current?

There are two types of electric current known as alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC). The direct current can flow only in one direction, whereas the alternating direction flows in two directions.
